Questions & Answers

Question: Is loneliness a good thing or a bad thing?

Answer: In the table of the playlist, "Songs Near Loneliness and Feelings of Isolation," I highlight 12 key risks associated with loneliness, including but not limited to depression and suicide, Alzheimer'due south progression, and alcoholism and drug utilise. No one could argue that these are skillful things. Humans are built for social connection.

I judge yous could conversely fence that there is a silver lining to feeling alone if it spurs you to be artistic, find deeper significant in life, develop one's spiritual side, better concentration, or make important positive changes. You have to weigh these against the risks, however, which are substantial.

Question: How practice you mend a broken heart, or improve even so, a cleaved mind?

Answer: A broken heart can indeed hurt just as physical pain hurts. Many of united states have been hurt deeply in this way.

You may exist deeply disappointed considering you aren't where you want to exist in life now with the i you loved, but that doesn't mean there is no hope for tomorrow. You will love once more if you allow yourself to do so. You may recollect that there's something wrong with you because someone has cleaved your heart and peradventure your trust. There's not.

Rather than ruminating on what you DON'T accept, what yous are Not, and what DIDN'T happen for y'all, instead focus on what you Can DO to brand today more fulfilling. First, wipe all of the brilliant reminders of your old lover out of your life. They are gone now. If y'all can't let go of these items by having a "burn anniversary," then pack up their old photos, former gifts, messages, etc. up in a box. Seal the box with duct tape, and mark information technology with the date and "Do non open." Then store the box in the cranium or somewhere less accessible. Accept their photos off your phone and resist any urge to check out your former lover's social media accounts. Make the pause so you can mentally move on in a positive direction.

You also must treat yourself well by taking care of your trunk and mind. Sign up for classes at the YMCA or your local gym. Exercise will provide a source of potential friendship and endorphins, the trunk'southward natural "feel skillful" drugs. Eat well. Stop telling yourself negative messages. Go far a do every day to give someone—anyone—a compliment. This will aid you mentally compliment yourself, too, on things gone correct. Change those messages y'all tell yourself. You lot demand to be your biggest fan.

Don't rush back into dating. Instead, concentrate on grieving and accepting your lost relationship and making yourself a happy person. Create a bucket list and start checking off items. Involve friends or do information technology alone. Just starting time, only talk with people along the mode as you bank check your listing off. Our lives are enhanced by the connections nosotros brand with others.

Consider volunteering some fourth dimension to a charity or charities in your area. It can exist a old activity or an ongoing commitment of your time, only I observe that getting out and meeting new and unlike kinds of people who need and appreciate my assistance keeps me positive. Get off social media and rub elbows with real people. I notice that volunteermatch.org has a diverse range of constantly updated listings. Sometimes y'all never know what volition involvement you until you meet it listed!

If you believe you are experiencing depression, delight seek counseling. Low is a mutual, treatable mental wellness condition, and you don't accept to suffer. Talk to your family physician to become a referral for a psychologist, psychiatrist, or mental health counselor. In that location'due south no shame in caring for yourself in this way.

I wish the best for you as yous seek to regain your ground. You volition love once again.

FlourishAnyway (writer) from U.s.a. on March 23, 2020:

Mary - Thanks for the song recommendation which I have added. Only more chiefly, please realize that many of us have gone through times (particularly in our teens) when a lot of areas in life just seemed to be going wrong all at in one case -- social life, family life, academics, fiscal, cocky-concept, health, etc. Focus on what you can control right at present, one thing at a time.

Fifty-fifty though it seems like something yous might not usually do, try reaching out to a trusted instructor via email or school messaging then that you lot tin can talk to them about the difficulty y'all're having in their class. Brand a signal of developing a better relationship with this one teacher. Ask for their help or advice, limited appreciation and kindness to them, and let them know y'all are trying. Especially if this works, consider expanding your efforts to other teachers. Remember that teachers are above all people and they do want you to succeed so try to connect with them as such. Equally far as getting in fights and not having friends, that will have more sustained, longer term focus on the types of people you surroundings yourself with, watching what y'all say, when you say it, and how, and knowing when to pick your battles. Since many of us are on a Coronavirus lockdown, wait upwards strategies for calming yourself in conflict so you tin can learn how to not let certain people push button your buttons so much. And above all, treat yourself kindly.

Mary on March 23, 2020:

Give to others in a volunteer capacity. You volition find that this higher up all else will create bonds of friendship and positive emotion. Yous'll aggrandize your social circle beyond your schoolhouse and your class.

Some people are lone wolves in life for whatever reason and others are ostracized, marginalized past family members, neighbors, and others for their habits or life choices, ideas, or behaviors. Hey,

My oldest sister died a few days ago from emphysema. fifty of years of smoking. She was a difficult person, and many of my ix other siblings more than or less ignored her. I kept contact with her through the years, and early I stood on the sidelines of our family with her, and instead of caring for the other members of my family, I criticized them, especially our our mom. I bankrupt away from that several decades ago, and it became more hard to chronicle to her. I wonder nearly people who push other people abroad, or find it difficult to reach out and ask for help.

Okay, my song suggestion is "This is for all the lone people," by America. Listened to information technology a lot when I was young, and I beloved the hopeful message.

"Bowling Alone" is a not bad book about our social fabric unraveling. I think my first view of loneliness came from the many retirement I sang at in High Schoolhouse. Sister Susan, our director, implored us to hug and concur easily as much equally nosotros could with the residents during these performances. She said many of these people feel solitary, and unattractive.

Thanks for setting upwards the site!

Few others came closer than this haunting version past Patsy Cline...

FlourishAnyway,

You amaze me by your knowledge.

The only i that comes from the musicians of my genre is "Here I Become Again" by Whitesnake. The ring's blues based hard stone and David Coverdale's wailing made this song very special. When I am hiking with my dog, I think of this song a lot. I am sure Coverdale must take sung many other songs in the same vein for Deep Imperial.

Bon Jovi's 'Steel equus caballus I ride' may just qualify, then may Scorpions 'When the smoke is going downwards'.

The other song that I listened to a lot was "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day.

Cheers for compiling this listing.
